We're closing in…tentatively, our big announcement comes in mid-to-late May…
Altair deserves another adventure
Ezio is a confirmed bad-ass and one of my favorite characters of the generation. Altair, the hero from the first Assassin's Creed title, doesn't register on my "favorite" list but that's because he was, for all intents and purposes, faceless. At the same time, I think he was a fantastic protagonist that had a lot of potential, and another story in what may be called Assassin's Creed: Revelations is welcome in my eyes. Of course, I want a new setting but I'm sure Ubisoft will deliver just that. Oh, and as for what they're planning with the next series entry, I have a very simple yet forceful warning for the developers: you managed to create a franchise that both critics and gamers love. It sold tons of copies because they love the games.
Changing the core gameplay and structure would be disastrous. I know it's the "in" thing to do this generation but almost every time it has happened, the results have been less than impressive. In some cases, it was downright depressing. Do not mess with this particular winning formula. Make some additions and enhancements, give us a new story and environment, etc. Just don't change the foundation. Got it?
Lest we forget, Warhawk was pretty damn good
I was involved in the beta testing for Warhawk way back in the summer of 2007 and in all honesty, I wasn't looking forward to it. I really can't get into flying games and my expectations weren't high. But the instant I pressed Triangle and enabled the flight mode, I was hooked. I don't typically play online multiplayer games but I had a ton of fun with Incognito's extremely well designed and accessible title, which is why I'm intrigued by Lightbox Interactive's new project. Evidently, it's Starhawk , and the first details are awfully encouraging. I think the problem is that so few people even had a PlayStation 3 when Warhawk came out, many never played it. Hence, they're not all that excited about what should be the spiritual successor.
Well, if you're one of many who never played that great multiplayer title years ago, I'm telling you right now- pay attention to Starhawk .
Personal gaming update
I'm closing in on the end of Dragon Age II and I continue to work on Final Fantasy IV: Complete Collection. It's great because there's so much I don't remember about that game (even though I replayed it when it came with Final Fantasy Chronicles on the PlayStation), so a lot of it just feels like a new old-school RPG. I've moved past the other games on my list and I now anxiously await L.A. Noire , which should be here in a few weeks time. I have a few PSN games I have to review, but…uh…those are on the back burner, obviously. On that note, however, I'm really looking forward to Trine 2 and Journey , among others.
Oh, and look for a Brink review this week. I have absolutely no expectations one way or the other; on the one hand, it looks like it has a ton of potential, but on the other, I have my reservations. We'll see.
I really hope Brink is good. I'm not into shooters but this looks this it'll be good.
Are you into multiplayer? It's gonna do things with MP that haven't been done before.
The MP does look interesting. You should explain though. Cuz you're such a nice guy. May I remind you of the Man Month incident? 😛
Check out my preview for answers: http://www.titanreviews.com/#/brink-preview/4549065551
I love Brink's art design.
i'm torn between brink and la noire. i got a $15 gaming coupon that expires before infamous 2 so i want to use it. then both games come with $20 gaming coupon that i can use with infamous 2, so thats good. i want to pick up brink but its just another shooter and i've been playing alot of those lately. then theres la noire. looking at gameplay videos, it looks like another one of their gta games but different settings. i'm impressed with what they did but i never got interested in gta games.
L.A. Noire looks like something much different from GTA, although the action/shooting is probably similar I'm most interested in the case solving and interrogation.
Ben, what are your views on the PSN outage? Do you think Sony should give something to users as a way to make up for the incident?
You should visit the forums for your answer 🙂
Yes, please do. 🙂
On my way…
LOL only like 10 people go to the forums and some dont even have a ps3.
There are more people in there now. I keep hoping some of these hundreds upon hundreds of commenters would pop in there more often, though.
I couldn't get into the forums for a very long time… It always gave me an error message and wanted me to change my password. That never worked. Anyways just tried it and it worked! So add one more to that list!

Loved warhawk , still play it to this day, hope it has most of the warhawk element
I haven't even played my PS3 much since PSN went down. I was working on Portal 2 and FFXIII again but I took a break to try and finish up Dissidia 2 Duodecim which I'm still not 100% done with as there is yet another mode that unlocks after beating the original game that unlocked after beating the new story mode. That game is packed with so much content it's kind of unbelievable. So I suspect I'll be playing that one for a while longer. Also took a break from FFXIII and Portal 2 to start FFIV: Complete Collection. Such a great game. Ah…I miss the days when Square actually made RPG's with a world map and airships. Other than that I have just been playing my guitar. Getting ready for my Europe tour. Woohoo!
i cant bring myself to play final fantasy 13 again. i want to platinum it but to me its not worth it.
Wish I was back in Europe. I really loved it the four years I lived there. I still plan on visiting again at some point though. Have fun!
i haven't even started the sotry mode for dissidia and not even slciked ont it since 2009 so i really have to catch up.
Thanks Geobaldi!
Woo Brink! I really hope PSN is back by then. 🙁
psn goes back this week according to blog. free content download depending on territory and 30 days free plus membership for ALL.
@johnld
For all!? Shweet~
Edit: I just checked the PSBlog and seen it, that's pretty awesome. I wasn't at home yesterday as I was out with friends at the bar watching a band play. And slept all night and almost today.

Do u guys think that the PSN will be back this upcoming week??? I hope so
It'll be up on Tuesday
Or Wednesday
GREAT!!!!
the only positive thing i found this week is that i pass the Gran Turismo Formula Championship in GT5 , any good setup for Monza ans Suzuka raining ???
Sony is supposed to be holding a press conference in Japan at 2pm local time addressing the whole PSN issue, including an estimated time frame for bringing it back online. Not sure what time that means here… or there…
free content download with 30 days free psn plus membership for all….yeah, sony is coming back in a big way for us members.
Info is up on the PS Blog.
Everyone gets a month of PS Plus.
I like Pie
My favorite is pumpkin pie.
Triple Berry!!! =D
I love pumpkin pie! :O
What? A week in review without an update on the status of the impending doom of the terrible scroll bar?
PSN will be back up within the week since ND says next weekend will be The Lab's triple cash weekend.
I've been playing bad games looking for the rare one I enjoy. Sadly Two Worlds II was just too f*cked up for me to enjoy. It had promise though. Other than that I'm biding my time until L.A. Noire comes. I'd like to finish Ar Tonelico by then but it's slow going with all the studying and stress.
Grades befo' Games
GPA befo' da GBA
Thats all I got for now…..
Who you going to choose? Saki, finnel or one of the others?:p
So far I'm digging Saki, Finnel is as flat as a pancake 😉
Yeah, there should be a PSXe vote held with the scroll bar. It doesn't work right with my cell phone browser. I'm glad there's a toggle at least.
Theres a poll on the forums.
Yeah, I put it there, lol.
Now now World. Of all the girls in Ar Tonelico 3 Finnel is my favorite. Her Soulspace missions were far more interesting then Saki s.
If you all hate it that much, we'll get rid of it.
But as Dan said, we're going to try it for a little while.
I dont mind it at all, maybe make it a bit bigger so you can read more at a time without scrolling but other than that.
i see no reason to keep that epic fail of a scroll bar around for awile when everyone hates it. plase get rid of it. why you guys have to be so heard headed about keeping something we hate?

@Guardian: You liked being stuck in Finnel's poopy bathroom? lol
@ Ben, I dunno if it's doable but I came up with a compromise in my poll. See if your web designer can find a way to make it so in the User CP we can turn it on or off permanently. It's just that having to toggle it all the time is a pain. But it's your guys' site in any case.

So..hard ….to move mouse….water…
Hah I like finnel too gaurdian. I love using soma ;p
For once, there's a benefit to using the crappy PS3 browser: I don't even see the scroll bar.
