Rumor: Raven Working On Stealthy James Bond Game?

James Bond 007: Blood Stone was a decent, entertaining spy iteration. It did have a bit of stealth, but it was hardly the focus.

That being said, might the next game fully embrace the patience-driven mechanic? Amidst the fallout surrounding MGM's bankruptcy proceedings, the 23rd Bond film had been temporarily shelved, and many fans wondered about the future of the legendary franchise. But resolution has been achieved; a federal bankruptcy court approved a deal that would allow pre-production of a new 007 film to start. In addition to the movie, fan site MI6 has reported that the next interactive installment is also back on track…and it's actually in development at Singularity developer, Raven Studios. The report claims that the game is in the "early phases" of development and will be labeled as "stealth/action." We've always thought Bond could use a slick Splinter Cell type of gameplay and presentation; it's just the kind of setting that would benefit from such an approach.

For now, nothing has been confirmed, but we certainly like the idea. Although Blood Stone was sort of fun, it couldn't stand up to the quality of the fall gems and really felt a little bland. Perhaps this new project will serve as a much-needed shot in the arm for Bond video games.

I'm sorry but no film series should reach into sequels in the 20s.

At least the formula for Bond has continually changed. Unlike something like Saw, which was good for the first two but just became boring after that. But, people keep buying Bond, and there will always be more.
Peace.

I think they're on the right track. Pump out an fps action game that lasts eight hours based on the two hour material from a movie just never seemed like the right way to go with Bond. The games were forgettable. They want to keep bond relevant? They have to start looking at good gaming. That's your audience MGM.

If it's going to be more stealthy, then I'd rather see Eidos make it, since they are the ones handling the Deus Ex and Thief series which are both heavy stealth games. Well Thief is primarily, the other you can go stealthy or go guns blazing if you prefer.

Seeing how I've read a bunch of articles(including here) that Singularity was a very good game, I'm of the thinking that Raven Studio's will get this this 007 right too.

Just remember it's shaken, not stirred!

I hope they wont screw it up like other movie based games.

I'd like to see a Bond which includes interrogation, partying, chases, stealth, platforming and, of course, shooting. That's just me though. But then, I'd like most games to have some combination of these facets. It should just be standard with Bond, knowing the history of him.

Still, Metal Gear Bond… It could work.
Peace.

It's not just you.

As Alienange said, I don't see how a FPS remotely qualifies as a "Bond" game. Even GoldenEye. Fun or not, it just isn't Bond.

Mini games where you unzip a woman's dress with a magnetized watch…that's Bond. 😉

p.s. You forgot the gambling; there should be lots of gambling (bacarat, especially).
